ABOUT THE NAME….
Pottery making was an important industry in Strasburg throughout the 1800s, when local clay was used to make food storage crocks and decorative pieces. After the civil war, five small potteries were located here and Strasburg was nicknamed “Pot Town”.
Mary Jane was a stray cat that was wandering around Strasburg’s main street looking for a place to call home. She tried the library, post office, churches and restaurants. She walked into Pot Town Organics a few times until she decided to stay. We took a Facebook poll on what to name her, and well, Mary Jane, giggles and innuendo stuck!
She is very friendly and has made it her job to greet just about everyone who comes in, even kids. After hours, you can find her sleeping in our windows, rearranging our displays!
